Insomnia Cookies is a chain of bakeries in the United States that specializes in delivering warm cookies. The concept was founded by Seth Berkowitz in 2003 while attending the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Berkowitz began baking and delivering cookies from a dorm room to students on campus late at night. From there the concept of cookie delivery grew. The first retail store opened in 2004 in Syracuse, NY.

Insomnia Cookies offers 12 varieties of traditional and deluxe cookies. Some flavors include the classic Chocolate Chunk and White Chocolate Macadamia cookies to the more decadent, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and S'mores Deluxe. All cookies are served warm from the oven.
Cookie cakes and brownies are available with toppings such as Cookie Dough, M&Ms, and Snickers. Ice cream is offered at most locations by the cup, pint and quart. Customers have the opportunity to customize and combine products, creating a cookie a la mode, brownie a la mode or cookiewich (ice cream sandwiched between two cookies). Milk is also available with every order.
Community involvement
Insomnia Cookies holds donates cookies and gift cards to organizations interested in raising money. Most notably in 2013, Insomnia Cookies participated in the World's Largest Bake Sale, which raised more than $100,000 for No Kid Hungry and The Food Bank of New York. The company sponsors Relay for Life and dance marathon events at universities across the country as well as the AIDS Walk of Boston, New York and New Haven. Insomnia Cookies also donates thousands to appropriate causes that hit their local communities like the One Fund Boston to aid the victims and families affected by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon.
